Math Teacher

Come join our dynamic team of educators on our Northville Campus teaching Mathematics and Science. This position offers the opportunity to utilize your teaching background to engage and instruct one-on-one with students of all levels. Central to Brightmont Academy’s approach, the Math Instructor works toward student success through guiding the student’s instruction to their background, interests, aspirations and learning style. The teacher utilizes the core Brightmont Dimensions that define the values and actions that are crucial to fulfilling our mission and ensuring a consistent, effective experience for students across all our campuses.

Math Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Applies best teaching practices and expertise to offer positive feedback, engaging motivation, and coaching to promote student’s confidence and high academic outcomes
  • Uses individualized curricular resources to instruct students towards standards using a variety of techniques including lecture, demonstration, audiovisual aids, and hands-on labs to supplement the materials
  • Demonstrate awareness of student’s background, skills, interests, learning styles, and special needs in lesson planning, pacing, and presentation
  • Maintain lesson plans and student records for attendance, performance and progress
  • Demonstrates the ability to embed assessment in instruction and adjust instruction to meet student’s learning needs
  • Ability to adapt, accommodate, and modify instruction and teaching methods to meet student’s learning needs while meeting general education curricula requirements
  • Create and support an environment of respect and rapport while developing a climate that promotes positive learning conditions, in all interactions on campus

Math Teacher Qualifications:

  • Teacher certification and/or experience teaching Mathematics
  • Science experience is a plus
  • Expert within content area with the ability to provide fun, yet, relevant instruction
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with the campus director, students, and co-educators
  • Positive approach to classroom management and student engagement creating a safe learning environment of mutual respect, high expectations, and professionalism
  • Ability to cross check state standards and course objectives with curriculum
  • Adheres to course schedules, grading, and reporting deadlines
  • Ability to integrate technology into the classroom
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Perform Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
  • Available to work flexible hours
  • Ability to commit long-term to a part-time schedule
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check
